Granada’s Millenial

Art and technology project designed for an ancient city
It is not easy to celebrate the millennium of a city, so many stories that you would not know where to start. For this reason we decided to use the metaphor of the fruit that gives the city its name, the pomegranate.
What is a pomegranate - any fruit - without its insides? That is why we scan their faces in 3D with a truck, passing through their ten districts every day, for 10 days. We scanned all those who volunteered to do so.
With all this meta-data we generated averages and we were able to obtain images that showed us the mix between all of them.
The results were transferred and displayed in an interactive exhibition where attendees could see the final result. 613 faces scanned and mixed by algorithmic processes that were concentrated in a single face made up of a thousand points, a thousand grenades that were located in the Casa de Zafra cistern. The new cultural center of the Albaycín, a Nasrid house from the 14th century.
