La Disupte
Another dispute over color in cities
Barcelona's 'Eixample' is known for its advanced urban design designed by Ildefons Cerdá, but many decades after his fantastic design, the neighborhood is facing an urban reality that even he himself could not imagine: the chromatic hegemony. When the architect Antonio Poch designed the building, he was very clear that it had to be given color, and for this he turned to the Harpö team, made up of Lucas Milà and Arcadi Poch (his own son). To meet the disturbing demand, Haprö decided to make an ode to color, a work as naïf as it is disruptive in what meant a unique opportunity to put color in a context that needed it. La Dispute -inspired by the song by French musician and composer Yan Tiersen- talks about the color dispute that all cities face. It is worth mentioning that the work received a pleasant public recognition in the social networks of one of the people who are dedicated to designing the color catalogs of the neighborhood itself. Blessed be the colour.
